In contemporary world millions of people visit museums. Every new museum soon finds its way onto a tourist map of the country involved, or even that of Europe, resulting in new places and towns appearing in tourist guides. Museums rank among the most important goods of culture and constitute a significant tourist attraction thanks to their collections, exhibitions held, educational and disseminating activities undertaken and, in many cases, through the architecture of their buildings. The book is a sort of compendium summing up knowledge about museums, their place and role in tourism and specific museum-oriented tourism.
The book is addressed to students in directions of study related with tourism, museums-related sciences and history of culture. It may also be useful to guides of excursions, tourists and, above all, to all enthusiasts of museums.

Doctor of technological sciences in the Warsaw University of Technology; fellow in the International Institute of Hydrology and Environment Protection in Delft (Netherlands). During his work as a guide of tourist groups visited over 100 countries on all continents. Since over a dozen years guides excursions in Warsaw, also working as an instructor of tourist guides and the Deputy Chairman of the standing Examination Commission of City Guides established by the Marshal Office of Mazowieckie Voivodship. Permanent contributor to a web-based scientific monthly magazine “Turystyka Kulturowa” where he describes his tourism experiences and travels. His areas of particular interest include history and culture of Asian countries. Co-organizer and former President of a new, independent Adam Jarzębski Warsaw Association of Tourist Guides. Author and co-author of books dedicated to tourism and guides of Warsaw for English-speaking groups.
