Etnocentryzm konsumencki na zglobalizowanym rynku – czynniki i procesy kształtowania (cz. 2)
Andrzej Szromnik, Elżbieta Wolanin-Jarosz

W pracy przeprowadzono pogłębione studia teoretyczno-koncepcyjne zjawiska etnocentryzmu konsumenckiego. Rozróżniono różne obszary przejawów postaw etnocentrycznych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem etnocentryzmu społecznego, gospodarczego, handlowego oraz konsumenckiego. Przedstawiono mechanizm kształtowania etnocentryzmu konsumenckiego oparty na dwóch siłach napędowych — sile innowacji oraz sile tradycji. Autorzy wprowadzili pojęcie ksenocentryzmu konsumenckiego, będącego wyrazem preferowania w zakupach i konsumpcji produktów (marek) zagranicznych.

Consumer ethnocentrism on the globalised market — factors and processes of forming (part 2)

The paper analyses the conceptual background of consumer ethnocentrism phenomenon. The authors identify distinct areas in which ethnocentrism can be recognized: social, economic, commercial and consumer. Also the mechanism of ethnocentric tendencies formation is explained with special focus on innovation and tradition. The authors introduce the notion of xenocentrism being the preference toward the imported foreign made products. The paper identifies the divergent levels of ethnocentrism (ultraethnocentrism, strong, moderate and weak) which is reflected in scores obtained on CETSCALE. The paper also suggests the system for consumer identification of foreign vs domestic products. It concentrates on consumer decision making process with regard product origin. The Authors have identified a sequential 8-stage process of consumer transformation from unawareness to fully informed stage of product origin. Special emphasis is put on identification of determinants of consumer choice in terms of geographical origin of the product. The identified determinants are clustered into groups according to their positive and negative influence on consumer decision making process with regard to product origin. Also, the authors attempt answering the question of influence of the above findings on marketing strategies.

Keywords: consumer ethnocentrism, domestic vs imported products, consumer decision making process, country of origin effect.

Demarketing miejsc – koncepcja, narzędzia i obszary zastosowania

Place demarketing — the concept, tools and fields of application

The purpose of this article was to present the demarketing concept, its types, tools and fields of application, broadly referring to the specific of place demarketing. Some places - especially from the world and national cultural heritage – are in danger of irreversible devastation resulting in the loss of valuable cultural and natural values due to excessive tourist congestion. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the demand by using the appropriate demarketing strategy. The growing interest in this concept stems also from policy on sustainable development implemented by the governments of many countries (i.a. under the influence of the increasing scarcity of unique natural resources).

Keywords: demarketing, place demarketing, typology of place demarketing, place demarketing strategies.

Produkt kształceniowy w kontekście tworzenia wartości na rynku usług edukacyjnych szkolnictwa wyższego
Angelika Pabian

To w konsekwencji doprowadziło do postrzegania studenta w kategoriach klienta, którego potrzeby należy zaspokajać.

Educational product in the contexts of value creation on the higher education market

Many changes on the higher education market have resulted in introducing marketing orientation at universities. Furthermore, the changes have created new challenges for universities. They started to operate as service companies which offer educational service. As a result, universities have to respond to new needs of students and treat them like clients. They also have to use many instruments used also by companies. The main subject of the paper focuses on an educational product shown as the main source of value given to students. The paper also shows how the educational product has changed. About twenty years ago it was the core benefit that was the most important for students. Nowadays it is not sufficient. There must be something more than a teaching-learning process. Other important factor include for example: university’s brand, scholarship, infrastructure, additional courses, or information system.

Keywords: student-client, educational product, sources of value created for students.

Exclusive and own-brand products as the alternative of additional sales promotion on the basis of white goods sector in Poland

The dynamic development of online stores has negative impact on the profitability of traditional distribution channels like for example shops with kitchen fitments. From this perspective current instruments of "dealer promotion" are insufficient and less attractive. The studies conducted and presented by the author show that an alternative for sales promotion can be the introduction of exclusive and own-brand products by wholesales of white goods. Thanks to distribution channels like kitchen studios and other retail businesses they can compete effectively with online shops.

Keywords: sales promotion, e-commerce, white goods sector, exclusive products, own-brands products.
