Picking zone replenishment workload on the background of order picking process workload - case study
During the consulting projects, related to the rationalization of the picking zone organization, customers are often reporting the doubt of significant workload growth concerned with more complicated replenishment of picking locations. What is the relation between picking zone replenishment and the basic order picking processes? This article is an attempt to answer this question based on a real case study. The results confirm that the frequent replenishment of picking zone, contrary to popular opinion, will reduce the total workload. Reduced process flexibility, associated with a smaller capacity of picking locations and reduced accessibility of goods ready deliver, is one of the expenses of the possible change.
