In the era of growing competitiveness and searching for
ways to better use the resources possessed, proper use of
drivers' working time is becoming an increasingly difficult
challenge for transport companies. In order to make
optimal use of drivers' working time, various concepts and
solutions should be analyzed, looking for proven solutions
that are adequate to current needs and conditions. This is
particularly difficult for companies that transport people
during night. Therefore, the purpose of the presented
article is to identify the basic problems in the
optimization of working time of professional drivers who
transport people at night in relation to the legislation of
the European Union and Poland. The study presents in a
chronological order the basic changes concerning the
professional activity of drivers, which took place within
the European Union and Poland legislation. The article
was created on the basis of the analysis of formal and
legal documents and normative acts binding in the
described area functioning within the legal system of the
EU and Poland. Materials contained in the article are the
basis for further research and reflection in the discussed
area.
