Konstytucyjne interregnum. Transformacje porządków prawnych

The book we recommend to our Readers is the effect of nearly two years of research conducted by over a dozen students and doctoral students of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, members of the Scholar Team for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy in the fourth year of studies.

The notion of interregnum symbolically represents the essence of the issues addressed in this monograph. It contains an analysis of the 20th Century systemic transformations that took place in the environment of Euro-Atlantic legal culture. The objective of the research was to point out the most important elements of a systemic transformation, considered very broadly and thus including the transformation of monarchic regimes into republican systems, processes of liberalization or democratization of authoritarian regimes, or, finally, the emergence of completely new state organisms. The metamorphoses described were observed in statu nascendi, in a dynamic perspective, over a period of development of new systemic forms, and therefore also of clashing the old with the new order.

Another strength of the monograph, along with delivering information, is an apt description of how events unfold, making up individual processes and stages of any systemic transformation. Finally, the book also addresses some universal problems concerning the tension between legal status and legitimation of a system in conditions of major political or social change.
