The monograph consists of five chapters, the first of which is dedicated to business undertaking, also presenting the proposal of its contents. The review of literature carried out here is used to indicate a cognitive gap – an incomplete notion of a business undertaking which is filled up by the notion of business architecture proposed in the book. Chapter two includes considerations about the business model, strategy and management system seen as components making up business architecture. Chapter three is dedicated to the notion of organizational efficiency. The discussion on the definition of the notion of efficiency, from the point of view of management science, enables the Author to propose a construction of organizational efficiency which consists of: social, managerial and market efficiency. Chapter four presents the stages of the research procedure performed and describes its methodology and the scope of the research carried out. The same chapter also specifies proposed stages of development of business architecture. Chapter five includes discussion of findings of the research made and formulates conclusions relating to relations between business architecture and organizational efficiency of the enterprises under scrutiny.
The monograph is an interesting and original work. As a scientific study, it is based upon the theory of management. Its empirical values are also considerable. The perspective of business architecture presented is an approach not only innovative, but also comprehensive as it manages to integrate within one construction the elements that have previously been considered and examined separately.
Agnieszka Zakrzewska-Bielawska, PhD, Professor in Lodz University of Technology
The monograph is an original study and the problems it addresses, concerning the theory of organization and management, as well as strategic management, is both important and topical. The integration, proposed by the Author, of elements of business model, organizational strategy and management system in the form of a construction called “corporate business architecture” and its relation to an organizational efficiency, with temporal dimension duly taken into account, determine remarkable originality of the study.
